1. Overview
Orchard Ops is a macOS application developed by Orchardworks ("we", "us", "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.
The short version: Orchard Ops does not collect analytics, telemetry, or crash reports. Your tasks, scripts, and data stay on your Mac.
2. Data We Collect
License verification
When you activate or validate a Pro license, the app communicates with the Lemon Squeezy API (api.lemonsqueezy.com). This sends your license key and device hostname to verify your license. No other data is transmitted.
Software update checks
Orchard Ops uses Sparkle to check for updates. When checking for updates, a standard HTTP request is made to orchard-ops.com/appcast.xml. This request includes your IP address as part of normal network communication. No additional system information is sent.
Website analytics
The Orchard Ops website (orchard-ops.com) uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is privacy-friendly and does not use cookies or track individual visitors.
3. Data We Do Not Collect
- No usage analytics or telemetry
- No crash reports
- No information about your scheduled tasks or scripts
- No personal information from the app
4. Gmail Feature
Orchard Ops includes an optional Gmail template feature for sending scheduled emails. If you use this feature:
- Your Gmail address is stored locally in macOS UserDefaults
- Your Google App Password is stored in the macOS Keychain, encrypted by the operating system
- Emails are sent directly from your Mac to Gmail's SMTP servers — Orchardworks never sees or processes your email credentials or messages
5. Payment Information
Pro license purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy. We do not collect or store your payment information (credit card numbers, billing address, etc.). Please refer to Lemon Squeezy's Privacy Policy for how they handle payment data.
6. Third-Party Services
- Lemon Squeezy — license management and payment processing
- Sparkle — software update framework (open source, no data collection)
- Cloudflare Web Analytics — website analytics (cookie-free, no personal data)
7. Data Storage
All task configurations, execution logs, and preferences are stored locally on your Mac in ~/Library/Application Support/OrchardOps. This data is never transmitted to us or any third party.
8. Children's Privacy
Orchard Ops is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised date.
